Abstract
Social-structural determinants of school success. The attitude toschool, the school situation, achievement demands and readiness forachievement from the view of schoolchildren. Topics: The investigation consists of 3 parts: 1. Popularity andgrades of subjects; self-assessment of capability of personal level ofachievement, achievement development and satisfaction with personalachievement in relation to class average (scale); assessment of factorsfor school success; possibility to work on homework undisturbed andcoaching by parents; average homework time; interest of parents inschool questions and satisfaction with school achievements; frequencyof parental criticism of school achievements and personal attitude tonon-fulfillment of parental expectations; tutoring; type and frequencyof sanctions by parents and classmates; assumed level of standard ofone´s own capability by parents, classmates and teachers; membership inteams and clubs or youth organizations; education goal and occupationplans; leisure contacts; neglecting homework due to friendships; schoolachievements and sexual problems; preferred teacher image; conductregarding teachers; characterization of class association and personalrole in class; main focus of interests outside of school and conflictswith school and parents resulting from this; participation indemonstrations and difficulties arising from this; judgement on one´sschool; attitude to school; number of schools attended; attendingboarding school; grades repeated; personally earning money throughpart-time job; available pocket-money; dealing with money; attitude tofashion; attitude to self-responsiblity of young people; familytensions; satisfaction with personal upbringing; time expended on theway to school; age of parents; social origins; employment of mother;position in siblings sequence; education and occupation of siblings. 2. Note
Survey unit: students### In the framework of the project the parents of the schoolchildren (ZA Study No. 0639), the teachers (ZA Study No. 0640) as well as the principals (ZA Study No. 0996) were also interviewed. The sociometric tests is archived under ZA Study No. 0942. For the 145 drop-outs in the schoolchildren survey there are likewise data available. Through this the number of cases increased altogether to 3385.
