    Attitude to the European market, environmental protection, the region and agriculture in the EU. Topics: 1. Attitude to the European market: interest in politics; personal opinion leadership; attitude to European unification and membership of one´s own country in the EU; expected political and economic advantages of a common European market (scale); purchase of products or services from another European country and assignment of the purchaser to a certain area of business; direct purchase of products in other European countries; satisfaction with these products; difficulties and negative experiences in these purchases; trust in purchases from other European countries relative to area of business; most important obstacles in purchase of products from other EU member countries; perceived measures of the EU to increase consumer protection. 2. Environmental protection: current significance of environmental protection; concern about environmental problems in the EU in general as well as in one´s country; most important environmental problems in the immediate vicinity; most important sources of environmental pollution; preferred measures to reduce vehicle traffic in cities (scale); ecology versus economy; preferred financing for elimination of environmental pollution; personal participation in environmental protection (scale); assessment of the efficiency of environmental protection on the different governmental levels from local to world-wide; preferred environmental policy measures on the part of the government; assessment of the environmental policy trustworthiness of selected organizations, occupational groups as well as the media; attitude to an environmental tax; approval of an immediate or gradual introduction of the environmental tax; desire for consideration of economic growth in introduction of environmental taxes; preference for reducd environmental tax for environmentally friendly packaging; approval of tax policy measures against environment polluters; general judgement on the effects of human activities on the environment. 3. Questions on the region: local ties or attachment with the region; attachment with the nation or European citizenship; judgement on measures of the government to support weaker regions; attitude to support of weaker regions; knowledge about the EU policy to support weaker regions; preferred measures to support weaker regions by the EU; sources of information about the development fund of the EU; attitude to an increased influence of the region on the policies of EU; desire for more influence by the regional commitee; most important source of information of respondent about the EU, its policies and institutions; preferred treatment of the Eastern European countries in comparison to the weak regions. 4. Agriculture: most important task of agriculture; significance of agriculture for society; assessment of cost effectiveness for foods in general; willingness to pay higher prices for foods from traditional breeding farms; assessment of the actions of farmers as appropriate for the environment; judgement on the job of the EU Commission for agriculture; knowledge about the common agricultural policy (CAP); preferred political measures through the CAP. 5. Miscellaneous: self-classification on a left-right continuum. Also encoded was: date of interview; time of start of interview; length of interview; presence of further persons during the interview; willingness of respondent to cooperate; telephone in household. In Denmark the following additional question was posed: knowledge about the magazine ´Europe´.
