    Political attitudes and judgement on the USA and the Americans. Topics: Most important problems of the FRG; attitude to selected countries and to a united Europe; judgement on democracy and the role of the opposition in western countries; attitude to peaceful use of nuclear energy; disarmament and world peace; satisfaction with American policies regarding the FRG; knowledge about American conditions regarding questions on social security, school system, trade unions, nationalized branches of industry and geographic facts; things perceived in common between Germans and Americans; assessment of the individual freedom of the Americans; reading American newspapers and books; listening to the ´Voice of America´; use of various sources of information about America; contacts with Americans; image of America (scale); honorary offices exercised; participation in political events; membership in a club, trade union or party; party preference; local residency. Demography: age (classified); sex; marital status; religious denomination; school education; occupation; employment; household income; head of household; refugee status. Interviewer rating: social class and willingness of respondent to cooperate; number of contact attempts. Additionally encoded was: identification of interviewer, age of interviewer and sex of interviewer.
