  • Abstract

    Judgement on the occupational and personal requirements of business executives in various function areas in the business. Topics: In the survey the interviewer specified a model position in a selected function area of the company. The respondent addressed his judgement to this concrete position: extent of responsibility, of powers and of immediately subordinate employees in this model position; necessary definition and occupation career for such a position; most important technical knowledge; the significance of business size for applicant judgement; the significance of individual basic knowledge and preferred leadership style for the selection of applicants; importance of technical qualification; percent share of individual abilities in the total abilities of applicant; most important qualities of leadership; preferred minimum and maximum age as well as sex and marital status of an applicant; psychological requirements (semantic differential); expected changes of the model positions through technical progress or company fusion; expected behavior of a holder of the model position; time expended for various activities; influence on laws and dismissal of immediately subordinated positions; income ideas; attitude to position descriptions; frequency of contact with the holder of a comparable model position in one´s business; characterization of occupation sought and personal education and completed examinations; participation in occupational further education events; personal leadership practices (scale); occupational career. Demography: age (classified); sex; marital status; number of children; ages of children (classified); religious denomination; school education; vocational training; household income; city size.

Managers in industrial businesses with more than 200 employees.
Sampling Procedure Comment: Multi-stage random sample Beyond this three each of the largest companies in the building and construction trade, the wholesale and retail trade, the insurance trade and banking were selected in all employment office districts. The sample of managers within the companies took place according to function area and hierarchical position.
