    Social problems of workers due to their retirement. The respondents were obtained by writing to all companies with more than 10 employees in the areas of the Trier and Saarbruecken chambers of commerce (address list of the districts) as well as all government offices in the research area. The 1463 respondents are grouped as follows: first wave in the Trier area: 590 respondents, of which 125 were shortly before retirement and 465 had already retired. Of the 873 respondents in the second wave in the Saarbruecken/Neunkirchen area 576 had already retired, while 297 persons were still working.
