    Political attitudes before the European Election. Topics: most important problems of the country; intent to participate in the election as well as party preference in the impending and last European Election; interest in the European Election and self-assessment of extent to which informed about the election; satisfaction with the Federal Government and the individual opposition parties (scale); sympathy scale for leading politicians; order of preferred parties; attitude to further merger of Western Europe and to the European Parliament; advantageousness of membership of the Federal Republic in the EC; assessment of the significance of political decisions at the municipal, state, federal as well as European level; satisfaction with the job of the European Parliament; progress in European unification since the last European Election; advantageousness of the common domestic market in 1992 for the Federal Republic; increase in difficulty of combating crime due to the elimination of border checks within the framework of the domestic market; preference for national or European responsibility in the fight against unemployment and crime as well as in problems of environmental protection and agriculture; attitude to reunification of the two German nations; attitude to admission of Eastern European nations into the EC; assumed winner in the impending European Election; job security; left-right orientation; completed journeymen´s test or completed government examination or diploma; living together with a partner; civil service career as well as service rank for soldiers; union membership; religiousness; party inclination.
