    Judgement on parties and politicians immediately before the first all-German Federal Parliament election. Attitude to political controversies. Topics: interest in politics; most important task in the FRG and the former GDR; issue competence of the parties and politicians; judgement on the economic situation and further development of the Federal Republic as well as in the former GDR; voting intent in the impending Federal Parliament election and behavior at the polls in the last Federal Parliament election or election for the East German Parliament; significance of election result for the further development of Germany; expected election winner; sympathy scale for the parties and top politicians; judgement on the productivity of the major parties and politicians; party inclination and party identification; earlier party inclination; attitude to unification of the two German nations and assessment of the chances for the country developing from it (scales); countries which have shown themselves to be true friends during reunification; national pride; perceived threat from the USSR; attitude to tax reform and assessment of the position of the major parties on the topics tax reform, nuclear power plants, abortion, right to asylum, securing of peace, fight against terrorism, safety of industry facilities, German unity, Eastern Europe and EC, democracy in the Soviet Union; the most important of these controversies for one´s own voting decision; preference for federal chancellor; attitude to market economic principles and to social differences (scale); city type; residential status; satisfaction with apartment; preference for public or private housing construction; religiousness; union membership; membership in the works council; self-classification of social class; city size. Also encoded was: district code.

Eligible voters in the so-called old states and respondents from the central resident registry in the new states.
Sampling
Multi-stage stratified random sample (ADM mastersample) of 1676 eligible voters in the so-called old states (containing an additional 253 respondents in Bavaria) and random selection of 1000 respondents from the central resident registry in the new states.
