Judgement on parties and politicians. Political attitudes. Topics: confidence in the future; most important political problems; judgement on the economic situation in the old Federal Republic and in the new states as well as assessment of further development in a year; judgement on current and future personal financial situation; assessment of the development of unemployment in the old Federal Republic and in the new states; judgement on further development in united Germany; intent to participate in the election; party preference (rank order procedure); certainty of one´s voting decision; best party in the election campaign; expected election winner; assumed election chances of the FDP, the Greens, the PDS and the Republicans in the coming Federal Parliament election; issue relevance; issue competence of the parties; expected development of DM {German Mark} stability after unification; hopes and fears in connection with the unification of the two German nations; estimated time of economic improvement in the former GDR; willingness to accept tax increases for the benefit of the former GDR; party most able to improve the economic situation and to solve problems caused by unification; behavior at the polls in the last Federal Parliament election or election for the East German Parliament; satisfaction with elected party; preference for federal chancellor; Kohl or Lafontaine as most able candidate for chancellor; ties to church; union membership and solidarity with trade unions. Also encoded was: length of interview. In the GDR the following questions were also posed: vocational training and supervisor function; fear of unemployment or short time work for a member of the household; availability at home according to weekday and time of day.
