    Life situations, orientations and perspectives for development of young people in united Germany. Topics: Most important changes in the Federal Republic and the GDR since 1989; attitude to unification of the two German nations; visits in the other part of Germany since border opening; interest in life in the other part of Germany; preferred leisure habits; motivation to going to the movies; attitude to selected film genres, musical styles as well as dances; interest in vegetarian nutrition; use of cigarettes and alcohol; characteristics of personal clothing style; self-esteem, irritability and concerns (scale); interest in technology; main focus areas of this interest in technology; orientation on group styles; residential status; size of household and family relation with the members of the household; presence of further housing opportunities; size of available living space; type of bed; age, sex as well as financial support of siblings by parents; length of stay of siblings in parental home; time budget summarized in hours per week for employment, training and further education as well as leisure time; time scales after Zimbardo (orientation on the certain present, hedonist orientation to the present, positive orientation on the past, negative attitude regarding the past); orientations in the future after Cavalli (eigen-strukturiert type, eigen-destrukturiert type, fremd-destrukturiert type); psychological self-characterization of stand on life; ambition to achieve personal goals in life and expected ambition in partner through life; moral orientations after Schwartz and Montada (order and security, power and wealth, freedom, friendship, tradition, change, postmaterialism, unity with nature, beauty, detachment; scales); religiousness and prayer habits; belief in life after death; confidence regarding development of one's own life and the future of society; time range of concepts about personal life; willingness to adapt, orientation to self and self-assertion as orientation patterns for personal life (scales); interest in politics; party inclination; judgement on support for youth by the Federal Government and areas for additional possibilities of support; political alienation (scale); political participation; age on the first day at school; presence of parents on the first day at school and gifts received on this occasion; general judgement on time in elementary school; favorite subjects; children's games and development of orientations as well as interests (social girl games, aggressive boy games, classical education, media usage, cultural activities, technical activities; scales); information on personal age at selected events such as first sexual experiences, first employment, leaving parental home and marriage; drammatic events in one's life; youth-centrism; relationship of young people to adults (scale); self-classification as young person or adult; desired speed of growing up; upper limit for adolescence; transmission of cultural capital (Bordieu): plans and hopes of ambitious parents for a gifted child, school-centered parental home, common leisure time and hobbies of parents and children, use of literature and media selection at home (scale); mutual trust with parents in youth; frequency of performing selected household activities by respondent as well as performance of these activities for respondent by his parents; importance of selected reference persons; exercise of "irrational" and excessive behaviors; presence of friends of both sexes; attitude of circle of friends or reference group to excessive use of alcohol and truancy; belonging to clubs and organizations; age at first menstruation or onset of breaking of voice; age at onset of rapid growth; current height and age at achievement of this height; weight; description of physical development in adolescence in comparison to school friends; body areas that particularly changed in these age phases; amount of monthly pocket-money and further financial sources for livelihood; giving personal income to one's parents; social origins; unemployment in parental home; type of city; type of residential community. Also encoded was: city size; length of interview; form of address; age and sex of interviewer.
