Topics: assessment of job security in the region; employment status; assessment of own job security; opinion on new technologies (lead to more unemployment vs. create new job opportunities and new jobs in the long term); experience with new technologies; desire for flexibility of working time; maximum acceptable everyday commute in minutes; willingness to adapt to an external job; external job; distance of the external job from home; length of the everyday commute in minutes; means of transport used for the everyday commute; the unemployed were additionally asked: no experience of household members with new techniques or extent of the effects; living alone; assessment of the opportunities for regular employment; effects of the new technology on former work; living: duration of residence in the residential area; local bond. Demography: sex; age (month of birth, year of birth); highest school leaving certificate; vocational training certificate; volume of employment, registered unemployed or other activity; more than 20 hours of employment; previous employment; current or last professional position and industry; marital status; religion; church rate; church affiliation; self-assessment of class; respondent is head of household; current or last employment of the head of household; current or last occupation of the head of household; last professional position and industry of the head of household; eligibility to vote in the last general election in 1983; participation in the last general election; voting decision (second vote); eligibility to vote, participation in elections and voting decision (second vote) in the last election to the Berlin House of Representatives in 1985; personal monthly net income; number of persons in the household (household size); number of children in the household from 0 to 5 years, 6 to 9 years, 10 to 14 years and 15 to 17 years and adults from 18 years (household composition); number of adults in the household without German citizenship; net household income; telephone in the household.
