Sampling Procedure Comment: The sample is divided in three parts. a) representative sample for the city: random selection of persons over 65 years with German citizenship not living in old people's homes from the resident registry, b) random selection of thirteen senior meeting places from the 17 existing in the municipal area, c) sample of persons over 65 years from the participant lists of the adult education centers in Ludwigshafen.

While the survey of adult education center participants as well as the city sample were conducted by mail, in the selected senior meeting places a written survey was conducted in the presence of the interviewer.
