Description
  • Abstract

This dataset contains records for each public elementary and secondary school in the 50 states, the District of Columbia, United States territories (American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and the Marshall Islands), and Department of Defense schools outside the United States for 1986-1987. Data were reported to the the National Center for Education Statistics by the state education agencies. Records in this file provide the name and address of the school, the name of the school district or other education agency that operates the school, a type code for the school, number of full-time equivalent classroom teachers, and membership/enrollment by grade.
  • Methods

ICPSR data undergo a confidentiality review and are altered when necessary to limit the risk of disclosure. ICPSR also routinely creates ready-to-go data files along with setups in the major statistical software formats as well as standard codebooks to accompany the data. In addition to these procedures, ICPSR performed the following processing steps for this data collection: Checked for undocumented or out-of-range codes..
