Sampling Procedure Comment: The sample of persons interviewed was conducted according to a random procedure, in which computer-generated random numbers from telephone numbers were used, with subsequent random selection of the person in the household to be interviewed

The data set contains the two surveys (1991 and 1992) in integrated form. The first survey referred to the old states including West Berlin. The second survey was conducted in the old states by FORSA. A comparable investigation in the new states took place in September 1992, but is not contained in this data set. Comparable investigations at other points in time are archived under ZA Study Nos. 1757, 1758 and 2042. In the 1992 investigation the sample of persons under 45 years was increased to about 1000.
