In every country about 1000 interviews were conducted. Except in Luxembourg approx. 600 and Northern Ireland approx. 300 respondents. For Germany there are two separate samples in East and West. The questions on the EURO were also surveyed in Eurobarometer 46.0 (ZA Study No. 2898). The survey took place at about the same time. The parallel survey conducted in NORWAY is not part of the official Eurobarometer 46.1. A cumulated data set of the Eurobarometers (1970-1992) is archived under ZA Study No. 3521. Questions on attitudes towards the Single European Currency (Q.23 to Q.42) are repeated from Eurobarometer 46.0 (Q.24 to Q.43) and should be analyzed in combination. Conducted not long after Eurobarometer 46.1 the United States Biotechnology Study (Jon D. Miller, 1997-1998) posed some questions similar to those asked of European respondents (ICPSR Study 3030).
