The sample is not representative for the European population and thus not comparable with the remaining Flash Eurobarometers. Each national sample (among the small countries approx. 80, among the larger between 125 and 185) was two-part: besides the usual sampling procedure of population 15 years and older for the rest of the Flash Eurobarometers, the other half was specially selected for persons who daily have much to do with money, such as e.g. cashiers, shop owners, taxi drivers, bank employees and waiters. The number of respondents was altogether about 1900. Since the objective of this investigation was not a representative survey but the assessment of the nine different coin series in comparison, the dataset can also be analysed at the level of the judgement on a series. This results in about 17000 evaluations of coin series.
