    The match between the situations of young unemployed and the assistance offered to them by state agencies and non-governmental organizations (NGO). Sampled Universe
Young unemployed people aged 16-30 years.
Sampling Procedure Comment: Multi-stage sampling. In each country two labor markets were chosen - one with higher and one with lower unemployment rate than the average in the country. In each region three quarters of young people were randomly selected from the registers of the local state Labor Offices; one third were unregistered unemployed identified and recruited by snow balling.

This data set is comparable with the survey "Young self-employed and their support systems in former communist countries 1996-1998" (ZA3122). The study includes in-depth interview of the non-governmental organizations. In each region of the four countries 10 non-governmental organizations with programs offering assistance to young self unemployed were selected for detailed case study. In addition, the team used document analysis of programs, official reports of state and NGO activities, national statistical data. A long list of publications of the study is available.
