    Quality of life in Halle. Topics: Residential status (rent, property); satisfaction with the housing situation; interest in real estate property; transfer back claims for one´s own apartment; number of living spaces; number of square meters of the apartment; apartment furnishings; garden; housing needs; assessment of the feasibility of the housing requirements; desire to move in the following two years; preferred residential area as the destination of the move; desired condition of the new apartment; reasons for relocation; receipt of housing benefit; year of construction of the residential building; constructional condition of the house; modernization at own expense; current work area and work area at the turn of the century; location of the place of work; length of the journey to and from work; means of transport to the place of work; frequency of commuting if the place of work is outside of Halle; assessment of own job security; memberships; general and municipal political interest; interest to cooperate in a party; intention to vote; party preference; most important losses in the case relocation; mood: feeling lonely, feeling good, zest for action, joie de vivre and fear of the future, feelings of threat (scale); personal worries; importance of areas of life; life goals and life principles; present personal and general economic situation and expectations for the next five years; image (semantic differential) and specific characteristics of the city of Halle; importance as well as satisfaction with selected living conditions and utility services in Halle (scales);feeling of solidarity with the city; suggestions for savings and improvements in urban facilities and services; benefits and problems of the urban district; frequency of selected leisure activities; duration of residence in Halle. Unemployed respondents were additionally asked: period of unemployment; plans for further professional activity; the chances of realization of these plans; sources of securing livelihood; accepted conditions for resumption of work; changes in the social environment due to unemployment. Demography: age (year of birth, grouped); sex; German citizenship; marital status; household composition; school-leaving qualifications; professional qualifications; extent and type of occupation; occupational status; further qualifications; size of household; persons in need of care in the household; household income; sources of income. Additionally coded was: respondent commented on the survey; weighting factors.

Inhabitants of Halle aged between 17 and 75 years
Sampling Procedure Comment: Simple disproportional random sample from the register of the residents´ registration office. In urban districts with low population numbers an increased number of cases was obtained.
