AbstractLiving conditions, moral orientations, political orientations and readiness of young people and young adults for political conduct. Topics: subjective age status; satisfaction with areas of life; frequency of political conversations with parents, spouse, friends, school friends and colleagues; moral orientations; postmaterialism (scale); importance of areas of life; sex role orientations; solidarity with the municipality, the old and new states, Germany, the European Union; national pride; politicians distant from the citizens and feeling of political effectiveness; political understanding and complexity of politics; understanding of democracy; attitude to the idea of democracy; satisfaction with democracy in the Federal Republic; attitude to the idea of socialism and socialism in the GDR; self-assessment on a left-right continuum; sympathy scale for the parties; anomy; social insecurity, lack of norm; trust in institutions such as trade unions, churches, judiciary, parties, Federal German Armed Forces, press, Federal Ministry for the Environment, citizens' initiatives, large concerns, the Federal Government, the police, television, the Federal Constitutional Court, the Federal Parliament, Greenpeace; detailed information on current and earlier memberships as well as intensity of participation in the activities in associations or clubs; acceptance of functions in these clubs; attitude to and personal activities in peace initiatives, environmental protection groups, self-help groups, nationalist groupings, leftist groupings and human rights groups etc.; interest in politics; readiness for various opportunities for political participation (scale); consideration of the interests of the citizens of the former GDR in the unification of Germany; personal advantages or disadvantages through German unification; opportunities to learn about the people in the other part of Germany; fair share of the standard of living in the Federal Republic; attitudes regarding foreigners (scale).
