Note
The time of the survey is organized as follows: 2 villages were sampled from May to July 1987. The data from the other 4 villages were collected between May and July 1988. The interviews were conducted in Arabic by Egyptian interviewers from the respective villages. Extensive qualitative material (participating observations and interview notes) were also collected in the framework of the same research project. Further quantitative data sets of the research project are archived in the Central Archive under ZA Study Nos. 5012, 5013 and 5023.
