    Media usage, political interest, extent to which informed, social activity as well as effect conditions of conveying political information through mass-media. Topics: Interest in various types of music (scale); interest in various types of television programs; preferred group of persons on television; opportunity of choice of interesting programs; frequency of use of various sources for political information: programs on radio, television, lectures (scale); frequency of reading various daily newspapers (scale); intensity of use of information about social and political events (scale); frequency of watching "Aktuelle Kamera" {current camera}, "Tagesschau" {daily news} and other political and cultural programs (scale); opinion for or against reporting oriented on politics from various areas of life; opinion on commentary on political events; evaluation of statements: the information policies of the SED serve the interests of the working people or the reporting in the FRG serves the interests of the ruling exploiter class; evaluation of extent of information on world politics and possibility of personal opinion making; frequency of personal information about political events; preferred mass-media for brief and detailed information; reasons for personal interest in political information (scale); interest in political events of the GDR or in the world; opinion on scientific content of the policies of the working class; opinions for or against occupation with politics; evaluation of the connection between development of socialism and responsible action and thinking by the citizens; assessment of the correctness and stability of personal political position; ability and readiness for open expression of opinion and participation in political discussions; significance of Marxist-Leninist education for political understanding; solidarity with the GDR; attitude to the Marxist-Leninist world view; preferred use of broadcasters of the GDR or FRG for political information; frequency of use of television and radio of the FRG; comparison of young people in GDR and FRG regarding providing information; reasons for the reception of programs from the West; factors of influence in formation of political position (scale); frequency of political conversations in one's family; agreement of political position with that of other persons in the circle of family, colleagues and friends; forms of activity with questions of Marxism-Leninism and sources used to acquire knowledge (scale); evaluation of statements: world-wide achievement of socialist world view, impossibility of German-German unification, Soviet Union our best friend; self-assessment of justification of the statements; participation in political discussions in the circle of friends and colleagues, in the FDJ group; forms of conveying knowledge for better political argumentation (scale); contact and sources used with political problems (scale); participation in various forms of social life (scale); degree of political conviction of collective members with participation in forms of social and occupational life (scale); conduct of social functions and in which organization; membership and function in the FDJ; occupation of father or mother; housing conditions; opportunity to watch television; shift work; characteristic of the occupation.
