  • Abstract

    The German Internet Panel (GIP) is an infrastructure project. The GIP serves to collect data about individual attitudes and preferences which are relevant for political and economic decision-making processes. The questionnaire contains numerous experimental variations in the survey instruments and an experiment which is identical across all questionnaires. For more information see the study documentation. Topics: preferred timing of debt brake; evaluation of debt brake; probability of debt brake in the residence state; compliance debt brake other states; resident state is donor or recipient state; employment status; years employed since school; years employed part-time /minijob; government´s responsibility for health care; acceptance of Electronic Health Records; acceptance of Medizinisches Versorgungszentrum; government´s responsibility for care; need for a change of the care system; opinion on medical apprenticeship; codetermination of doctors and care services; experience with care; self-assessment of health; kind of health insurance; government´s responsibility of pensions; preferred retirement age in Germany; real retirement age and preferred retirement age; desired pension level; assessment of old age poverty; preferred policy against old age poverty; real and expected income situation when retired; government´s responsibility for an adequate standard of living for unemployed persons; vignettes-experiment to the rights of migrants from other EU-member states in Germany with different attributes on duration, country, reason, education, occupation, status (right to apply same job as Germans, right of residence in Germany, right of same Hartz IV as Germans); opinion on a school safety law due to rampage; preferred candidate as a judge of the Federal Constitutional Court, on the basis of selected attributes: occupation, closeness to a party, selection, age, origin, sex, and marital status; trust in institutions (Bundesverfassungsgericht, Bundestag, press, government, judiciary, political parties and the police); role of a party leader; role of Martin Schulz as party leader of the SPD; competence of Martin Schulz as party chairman of the SPD; expected impact on the election result of the SPD at the next Bundestag election by the change of the party chairman; probability to vote for SPD after the change of the party chairman. Additionally coded was: unique ID, GIP; household identifier and person identifier; date of the interview; current online status; assignment to experimental groups; survey evaluation; assessment of the survey in total. Assigned variables: sex; year of birth (categories); highest educational degree; highest professional qualification; marital status; number of household members (household size); employment status; residence state; year of recruitment; German citizenship; private internet usage.
