    Analysis of changed living conditions, activities and social experiences of young people after conclusion of vocational training or in studies. Topics: Employment status; activity in occupation learned; change of occupation and reasons for this; unemployment; retraining; number of applications; work values (scale); relations in work collective / seminar group; preparation of school for demands of life; preparation of vocational training for occupational activity; willingness to participate in company committees; every-day values such as work, money, harmonic family life, achievement, obedience, knowledge, good relations, political position, good friends and colleagues; future expectations (scale); prospects of promotion and social differences in the GDR and in united Germany; changes in organization of leisure time; time period of life planning; current situation in life and life planning regarding residence, partnership, desire for children and occupation; possession of consumer goods; material desires; grade of the final examination of the 10th grade; occupation learned; final degree of training or last examination; member in organizations; belonging to a leisure group such as trend-followers, Grufties, Funkies, Skinheads, New Waver, Punks, Heavy Metals and Hooligans; religious community; leaving the area of the former GDR; willingness to participate further in the survey. Interviewed were students, medical personnel and skilled workers who had attended secondary school in Brandenburg and were older than 20 years.

The study is a component of the total investigation "Social Experiences of Young People in Transition into Working Life", ZA Study Nos. 6473-6480. Not all of the candidates involved still lived in Brandenburg at the time of survey; but they had already been involved in the survey in 1989 and were thus interviewed again.
