Description
  • Abstract

For a subset of chronic dieters, the pursuit of thinness has become destructive and life limiting. The purpose of this study was to evaluate changes in reported eating attitudes and behaviors among self-identified failed chronic dieters who participated in the How to Eat program, which is theoretically grounded in the validated eating competence model (ecSatter). This study evaluated changes in scores on the Satter Eating Competence Inventory, the Eating Attitudes Test-26, and the Trust/Control Index among participants of the ten-week How to Eat program (one session per week). Participants were self-identified as failed chronic dieters, who voluntarily enrolled during employee health promotion offerings in a metropolitan hospital system.
