  • Abstract

    This study documents the process and outcome of the development and validation of a coding scheme. The objective of this coding scheme was to analyze teacher discourse behaviors before and after an intervention which aimed to assist in-service mathematics teachers in engaging students in dialogical classroom discourse. The coding scheme shows effectiveness for highlighting dialogic discourse, authority structure, and student participation.
