AbstractThe German Zollverein was even before its foundation and all the more afterwards a highly discussed subject and served as a research subject for different fields in historic science. The study at hand does not deal with the reasons for the foundation of the Zollverein, but with its impact of the customs union on the textile industry of Württemberg. A microeconomic approach is chosen with a main focus on the company as an economic center of action. The simple arithmetical standard model failed in the altered market conditions after the foundation of the Zollverein. The study investigates the classical fields of operation of an entrepreneur. Only industrialists from Württemberg are taken into account, including Swiss entrepreneurs located in Württemberg, - Development of the textile and machine industry - General data on the development of Württemberg´s industry
