  • Sources: The investigations draw on publications of the official statistics. Important sources are the occupation census of 1882, 1895, 1907, 1925, 1933, 1939, 1950, 1961 and 1970, collected by complete inventory count of all households in the German Empire and the Federal Republic of Germany information about demography, occupational status and industrial sector of every household-member. For the period after 1970 the information was collected from the microcensus als well as the additional collection to the microsensus of 1971 about “Occupational and social regrouping of the population”. A further data-basis is the industrial enterprise- and workplacecensus of the years 1875, 1882, 1895, 1907, 1925, 1933, 1939, 1950, 1961 and 1970. The most important Tables of the historical Occupation- and workplacecensuses of the official statistics are processed and were made comparable in the course of the VASMA-Projects at the University of Mannheim.
