AbstractThe study investigated inequality in parental spending on young children over the period from 1972 to 2010. It used data from the Consumer Expenditure Survey to describe change over time across the income distribution. The study then examined potential causes of increased spending, including income, parental education, and wife’s work status, using decomposition analysis. The files provided here will help users replicate this work.
