  • Abstract

    This project contains a list of executive orders and proclamations that were mentioned in The New York Times from 1861-2016 (Excel files contains non-ceremonial and ceremonial directives, ceremonial directives are highlighted yellow). See Unilateral Politics in the Traditional Era: Significant Executive Orders and Proclamations, 1861–1944 (Williams 2020) for a detailed explanation on how the data was collected. Also contains data (and codebook) used in the statistical analysis in Williams 2020 (Excel and Stata files).
