Technical variables: nationality; number of Eurobarometer; registration of the respondent in an electoral register; split variable. 2. Weighting variables: sample weight, EU weight. 3. Sampled Universe
The population of each EU member country is defined as the members of the national residential population at the age of 15 years and older.
Sampling Procedure Comment: All nationalities were induced into the population of a member country, beginning with Eurobarometer 41.1. From Eurobarometer 32 onwards the sampling procedure switched to multistage stratified sampling. In earlier Eurobarometers different sampling procedures were applied in different countries. Up to Eurobarometer 31 A in Denmark, Luxembourg and Netherlands a random sample was drawn from electoral register. Quota sampling in Belgium, France, Italy, Great Britain and Ireland, based on Census-data. In Greece, Spain and Portugal random route. In Germany up to Eurobarometer 23 quota sampling was used, since Eurobarometer 24 random route sampling.
