    Typical forms and courses of personality development and social conduct as well as professional training and work habits of young people and young adults depending on social factors and social conditions. Topics: General personal orientations: introversion, extroversion; general contentment with life; satisfaction with certain areas of life; life planning, goals in life; life style orientation; social responsibility (self-respect, sense of community, striving for equity, partner faithfulness, readiness for action); religiousness. Politics/society: political interest; identification with Marxism-Leninism; identification with communists; evaluation of future ability of the socialist social system; relationship with the socialist state; relationship with the GDR and the socialist social system; relationship with the FRG and the capitalist social system; relationship with the class enemy; relationship with the enemies of the socialist order; influence of opinion of parents; attitude to religion; membership and participation in social and political organizations (FDJ, DTSB, DRK, GST etc.); individual significance of social-political work and social-political activities; general understanding of law; attitude to social property; political information; connection between media usage (FRG/GDR television, FRG/GDR radio) and political orientations. Leisure time/culture: leisure behavior; leisure interests; leisure activities (belonging to and participation in organized and unorganized leisure groups; cultural activities); furnishing with and possession of leisure consumer goods; media usage and media habits (radio, TV, daily press); living conditions in residential surroundings; monthly expenditures for selected goods, leisure activities and services. School: learning motivation; teacher-schoolchild relationship; schoolchild-schoolchild relationship. Occupational training: choice of occupation; retrospective evaluation of selected education path; influence of parental opinion on choice of occupation; occupation interest; attitude to occupation and ties to occupation; plans to remain in occupation; expectations of later occupation work; training motivation; evaluation of training conditions; achievement conduct in vocational training; evaluation of achievement demands (theoretical and practical vocational training); assessment of coping with demands or personal achievement status (theoretical and practical vocational training); parents judgement on training achievements. Partnership/marriage/sexuality: steady partner relation; problems partner relation; role distribution in marriage or steady partner relation; sexual conduct (age at start of cohabitation, frequency of ejaculation, frequency of sexual intercourse, frequency of orgasm). Cognitive abilities: individual courses of development of mental-intellectual ability; micro-social conditions of development and promotion of mental-intellectual ability (activities outside of instruction; participation in school competitions and comparisons of achievement outside of school); expression of individual interests regarding mental-cultural activities and their influence on the development of mental-intellectual ability (leisure activities, parental home, lerning motivation); individual courses of development of school achievements (school grades); connection between school achievement, school degree sought, occupation orientation and development level of mental-intellectual ability. Physical development/health: body growth; physical maturity; eating habits; drinking habits; participation in school / company group meals; habits regarding intake of semi-luxury foods (tobacco, alcohol) harmful to health. Socio-demographic characteristics: social origins (social affiliation, social status, occupational status and occupational activity of parents); attendance at day nursery, week nursery, kindergarten, school nursery; school degree; training direction occupation; personal social and occupational status.

The Interval Study IS I "Development Factors and Development Forms of Young People in the GDR" (1968 to 1980), archived under ZA Study Nos. 6149 to 6160, is considered to be the research precursor of the Schoolchildren Interval Study IS II.
