GESIS

The GESIS - Leibniz Institute for the Social Sciences is the largest infrastructure institution for the social sciences in Germany. GESIS supports researchers in all five phases of the research data cycle: Research – study planning – data collection – data analysis – data archiving and registration. Thanks to our own basic research and many years of experience GESIS is able to offer a unique package of social science services. GESIS maintains the largest social science data archive in Europe and is a mainstay and initiator of wide-ranging national study programs (ALLBUS, PIAAC, ISSP, GLES). GESIS also offers extensive research portals (sowiport, SSOAR, CEWS) and participates actively in the development of web2.0 applications. A pilot project was begun in 2010 for DOI registration of research data, which has continued now in association with the ZBW in the jointly administered registration agency da|ra.

GESIS was founded in Mannheim in 1986 as a registered association (e.V.) and is a member of the Leibniz association.

ZBW

The ZBW – German National Library of Economics, Leibniz Information Centre for Economics is the world’s largest nationally commissioned information center for economic literature, both online and offline. The institution currently houses approximately four million volumes and 32,000 continuously held journals. ZBW also offers the fastest growing collection of open-access documents found on the internet: EconStor, the digital publication server, currently comprises ca. 25,000 freely accessible articles and working papers. EconBiz, the search engine for professional international economic information, allows students and researchers the opportunity to search among more than eight million datasets. Two economic journals: “Wirtschaftsdienst“ and „Intereconomics“ are published by the ZBW which, together with the Institute for World Economy (IfW) also runs the open access peer-review journal “Economics”.

The ZBW is part of the Leibniz association and since 2007 a foundation.
